Ad | The Barnt Green Inn

Dean and I were invited to The Barnt Green Inn, in Bart Green, to check out their major refurb and taste their new menu last week.

It did not disappoint!!

From the moment we pulled into the car park, we were met with a huge outside area, lit up with fairy lights.

Walking though the arch way really set the scene.

We received a warm welcome when we walked into the bar area and were shown to the gin bar - My favourite addition!

I had a gin and tonic that I topped with grapefruit, dried orange slices and some fresh mint leaves that the waiter said to smash in my hands to release to aroma. It was a great combo that I'll be recreating at home! Dean was the designated driver for the evening so he just had a diet coke.

We were the first to arrive and had a walk around the bar area to take in the new decor. It is beautiful. Lots of heavy velvet, romantic lighting, dreamy bespoke wallpaper and rich mahogany. It feels like the perfect place to have a date. The bathrooms are pretty cool too!

We were shown to our table shortly after and seated at the back of the restaurant in a lovely spot by the window and the fire.

We're decorating our house at the moment so I was coveting the watercolours, greens and golds around us. Wanting to take as many ideas away as possible for our dining room!

Our waitress, Isabella, came to introduce herself and went through some of the dishes she recommends.

The menu has so much variety that it took us a while to decide what we wanted. We ordered some bread for the table to munch on whilst we perused.

Lots of seafood, meat dishes and vegetarian and vegan options which all sound so delicious. The nourish bowls sound particularly yummy and healthy too.

For starters, I decided on the chargrilled octopus and chorizo whilst Dean had the massaman chicken skewers with a pomegranate and coconut tzatziki dip. Both starters were full of flavour and we got quite large portions.

We will definitely be back to try the miso aubergine bao buns and the panko crusted fried brie starters.

It was so nice to have an evening just the two of us. We sometimes get caught up with work and being parents so we forget to spend time as a married couple.

I always feel so proud going out with my Husband.

Anyway, I digress.

The list of mains sound as good as the starters. So many things that I wanted to chose, but I went for the rotisserie sticky glazed pork belly with scallops (and another gin) and Dean had the freshly beer battered line caught cod and chips (his ultimate favourite). very generous portions that we just about finished.

Dean has said it was possibly the best fish and chip he's ever had, and he's eaten a lot of fish and chips!

Now, on to my favourite part of every meal... DESSERT!! I think we could have ordered one of everything but we went for the sticky toffee pudding and the ambassador's melting hazelnut and chocolate bomb which came with hot white chocolate sauce that was poured onto the chocolate sphere to melt it. It was to die for!!

Throughout the evening, the waiters and waitresses ere so attentative, checking we had everything we needed. They were so knowledgeable when we asked about the menu and drinks. Everyone was so friendly and the food was just incredible.

The Barnt Green Inn is definitely somewhere we will be returning to for drinks and dinner in the not so distant future.
